If your resort is on another part of the island, travelling to Grand Baie can take 60 to 90 minutes each way. Taxis in Mauritius are also relatively expensive, and regular trips for dinners, shopping or nightlife can quickly add up.
Sometimes, paying a little more for a resort in the right location can actually offer better value and a far more enjoyable holiday experience, allowing you to walk to restaurants, browse local shops and enjoy an evening out without constantly relying on transport – if this is the type of holiday you are after.
