When you’re choosing a “Mauritius honeymoon package”, you’re looking for more than just a hotel stay. A good full-service package should cover:
By understanding exactly what is included (and what isn’t) you’ll avoid surprises.
Timing your trip matters. For honeymooners from South Africa we recommend:
Many resorts provide special honeymoon discounts and delightful Value Adds – from a romantic dinner by the beach to a special turn-down service, or even a complimentary couple’s spa treatment.
These benefits are generally available to couples travelling within 12 months of their wedding date – so there’s no rush! If your budget is feeling a bit stretched after the big day, consider postponing your trip to a more affordable travel period. You’ll still enjoy all the honeymoon perks and savings. After all, as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.
HOWEVER, booking early helps you secure the best resorts and honeymoon extras.
Use our Mauritius travel guide for more information about the weather, entry requirements and planning your trip.
Here’s a simple guide:
Make your honeymoon more than just room & beach time. Here are ideas:
These break the “just resort” routine and build lasting memories.
For more ideas beyond the resort, see our guide to the best things to do in Mauritius for first-time visitors.
✔ Confirm flights are included (SA ↔ Mauritius) and double-check the departure and arrival times. You might not want a super-early honeymoon departure right after your wedding day/night!
✔ Check if airline pre-seating is chargeable (you do want to sit together on the flight!)
✔ Ensure transfers airport ↔ resort are included both ways
✔ Check resort category and room type also if you have any preferences e.g. ground vs top floor, sea-facing vs beachfront etc.
✔ Clarify meals: breakfast vs half-board vs all-inclusive
✔ Check the honeymoon extras (e.g. room decoration, couple’s spa voucher, romantic dinner)
✔ Check cancellation/flexibility (important given global travel uncertainty) & get travel insurance quote(s)
✔ Ask about off-peak deals if you’re flexible with dates
✔ And if you want real-time pricing, the LIVE Beachcomber Quotes tool shows side-by-side honeymoon offer comparisons.
✔ Ask about the required deposit, this usually covers your airfare and a small portion of the land arrangements. The remaining balance is typically due closer to your departure date, giving you extra time to save. Keep in mind that package prices may fluctuate until fully paid, as some are subject to exchange rate changes (be sure to ask for details).
At Islandwize Travel we specialise in full service holiday planning from South Africa. We create Mauritius honeymoon packages that include flights, transfers, resort stays, meals and activities, tailored for your preferences and budget. Our local team ensures you step off the plane and into your honeymoon with no stress.
No, South African passport holders can enter Mauritius visa-free for stays up to 60 days (at time of writing), still check latest travel advisories.
For most couples 5–7 nights gives a relaxed pace: day for arrival, 3 full days of romance and activities, one day to wind down before departure.
If you value ease (no budgeting on-island, meals and drinks covered) yes. But if you prefer exploring local restaurants, boutique stays, or trade-off cost, half-board may offer better value.
It can be more affordable than some ultra-luxury islands. There are great value options. By booking early and selecting the right season you can get excellent value.
Light beach-wear, swimwear, beach shoes, snorkelling gear (optional), smart-casual outfit for dinner, reef-safe sunscreen, sun-hat, and perhaps a light jacket for evenings depending on the season.
